This panel will discuss how the shifts in the kind of business intelligence they are able and asked to provide, and shifts in the tempo of those activities, are changing their organizational role.

Herz is the CEO of Batchtags LLC, whose analytics engine, Tripledex, allows individual and institutional users to explore, build, and share information about highly interconnected networks of people, organizations, partnerships, and other transactions in an intuitive visual interface. Tripledex provides software and services to both Fortune 500 and government clients.

Splunk Inc.

Doug is the chief information officer at Splunk. He is responsible for the strategic use of technology at the company. Doug and his team serve Splunk’s information technology needs using private and public cloud solutions, while managing web functionality and global facilities. Doug oversees corporate analytics, an internal Splunk implementation to deliver web analytics, application management, security forensics and operational intelligence for the company at large.

Doug has been leading IT organizations for most of his career, at companies such as Ingres Corporation, Portal Software and Hewlett Packard. The rest of the time he has been in the IT consulting field, focused on delivering enterprise business applications to clients and technology companies like Symantec, VMware and Activision.

Doug holds a B.S. degree in business from Cal Poly, SLO. He is engaged in the CISE CIO consortium, lectures at several local universities and is a faculty member for the CIO Executive Development Program at San Francisco State University.

Jim Golden is a Partner and Chief Management Scientist at Accenture. Dr. Golden leads The Global Pharmaceutical Analytics Practice and supports the Global Healthcare Data Analytics Group. His work focuses on the development of data analytics strategy, platforms, offerings and solutions for Accenture’s pharmaceutical, payer, provider and government clients. His most recent work focuses on the areas of Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) and Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) within healthcare R&D, and physician targeting and customer lifetime value for pharmaceutical commercial marketing.

Revolution Analytics

Norman H. Nie leads Revolution Analytics in its efforts to broaden the use of the R statistics language to galvanize a predictive analytics market he helped create over 30 years ago as the co-founder of SPSS. With a distinguished career in both business and academia, Nie brings strategic vision, experienced management and proven execution to his role as president and CEO.

Nie co-invented the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) at the age of 22 while a graduate student at Stanford University and eventually co-founded a company around it in 1967. He served as president and CEO of SPSS through 1992 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1992 to 2008. Under his leadership, SPSS grew exponentially and secured its position as both a leader and pioneer in the field of statistical analysis. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Knowledge Networks, the survey research firm he co-founded in 1997.

Nie is a renowned scholar of political science and is Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago and currently a Research Professor of Political Science at Stanford University, where he also founded the Stanford Institute for Quantitative Study of Society (SIQSS). He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Award (1976 and 1997) and was recognized with a lifetime achievement award by the American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) for his contributions to survey analytics, as well as his works in political behavior. He was recently appointed a Fellow of The American Academy for the Arts and Sciences. Nie was educated at the University of the Americas in Mexico City, Washington University in St. Louis and Stanford University, where he received a Ph.D. in political science
